Hi all. :)

I need help selecting an ammo order for my new AR rifle.

I currently have a 16" Barrel with a 1::9 Twist and it absolutely hates the lighter bullets. I get my best accuracy from 68 Grain bullets with that rifle.

I'm getting a 16" barreled rifle with a 1::7 twist and I need help placing an ammo order. What weight bullet seems to give the best results with the 1::7 twist in a 16" barrel?

If it matters, I will zero the rifle at 200 Yards with most shots being inside 100 Yards but some may be as far as 500 Yards. I'm looking for reliability and accuracy. At work we use a 1::7 with a 55 Grain bullet, but I have seen a few malfunctions with that combo, but have not had time to investigate the malfunctions to see if it's shooter induced, poor weapon maintenance or bullet design.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

The twist on both rifles mentioned will shoot best with bullets heavier than 55 gr.
I have a rifle with a 1:7 twist. I am shooting 80 and 90 gr. match bullets. If you want to shoot lighter bullets twist should be slower than 9.

With a 1:7 barrel you are G2G with anything 62 grains and up.

Get a wide assortment of factory ammunition (different manufacturers and weights) and see with which load your gun is most accurate. Individual rifles have unique preferences. Gotta experiment to see what yours "likes".
