Here's a newbie question. I'm Bullit shopping right now for 45 ACP 230 grain-I don;t really know what type I should not get to avoid having problems cycling through a Sig P220. Also I'm seeing prices ranging from $.09 to $.17. How do I know if the cheaper ones are worth a darn? Does it make a big diff if I'm only throwing them downrange?

Unless you are serious target shooting, bullets don't matter much. For plinking almost any bullet will do. Good news is you can get very good lead, plated, or jacketed bullets reasonable.

Zero's from Ghost Holster or Roze Distribution.

TJ Conevera has good prices.

Precision Delta
is another good source.

Powder Valley is a good choice.

Berrys plated bullets shoot great in the .45.

Many good places for lead bullets as well. I am sure someone will post some links.

It looks like the FMJ are available in a couple of the above sites for $0.177 a pop. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and see what happens. Thanks for the help guys.

Lead is by far the cheapest route and shoot great in the .45 with no leading 99% of the time. The .45 is as easy as it gets with lead bullets.

I shot lead out of my 1911 continuously with great results. Laser Cast, while costly, is an excellent choice.

There is a guy named "bulletman" on reloadersauction.com who sells 1000 45 FMJs for around $110. I've heard from one person that they are quite good.

This site has the potential to be a very good source for reloading components, but there's not too much there right now.
