Will somebody educate me? On this gun Mike Sr is selling he makes a do about burned cylinders, So what is the deal with "burned cylinders"?

My guess (before the true experts show up) is that:

a) He's cleaned the cylinder face of only three of the cylinders with something like Flitz or..........

b) He's only fired the gun in three of six cylinders.

At any rate, on stainless revolvers, the cylinder face gets black when you shoot it. That bugs some people. I think it gives the gun character.

I think Mike Sr is saying the gun is unfired
except for test firing at the factory.S&W
would test fire every other chamber and
leave it at that.

For many years S&W and Colt test fired their six shot revolvers by firing a proof round in every other chamber. This would leave a slight flame broiled discolouration on the face of the cylinder.

In the late 70s and early 80s it was not uncommon to find factory fresh S&W revolvers that, while being fired three times, did not have every other chamber fired. Sometimes there would be two adjacent or even the occasional three in a row. I suspect boredom would sometimes set in and the test fire guys got a little silly.
