Is there anyone here that can tell me the difference between the Fullfield II and the Droptine scopes made by Burris?? I've looked at the specs and I can't for the life of me find the difference. I know the Droptine is priced alittle lower than the Fullfield, so presumable it is slightly inferior, but I can't seem to find exactly how.

I don't know for sure, but generally you'll get better lense coatings on more expensive glass. It could also be the country of manufacture. The F-II is made in the Philippines, I wouldn't be surprised if the Droptine is Chinese made.

The only difference in the specs that I can see is a different magnification adjustment ring. The FF-II turns the whole eyepiece making it impossible to use flip up scope covers. But that feature is also one that contributes to their reputation for ruggedness.

For only $20, I'd not even consider the Droptine. The FF-II has earned a very good reputation for rugged reliability and good glass for the money. If the FF-II were $100 more expensive I'd consider it, but not for $20

I'm not sure what all of the differences are, but comparing the images and specs for the Droptine and the FF II 4.5-14x42 there are only a couple of differences that are readily evident.

- The FF II has metal caps and metal Objective and Mag rings vs. apparently plastic ones on the Droptine.

- The Droptine is available with the Ballistic-Plex (an excellent reticle, IME) or a mil-dot reticle, whereas the FF II comes only with the Ballistic-Plex.

I do not know how the Droptine would compare to the FF II in terms of optics, but I have very carefully (systematically, using the USAF optical resolution target) compared my FF II to my Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44, Sightron SII 6-24x42, Sightron SII 3-9x42, Redfield Revolution 3-9x40, and a few other scopes that I have. At any given magnification, the FF II is slightly better than the Vortex or the Sightron 6-24x, and significantly better than the rest. I subsequently went out and bought 3 more of the Burris scopes for some other guns. If 4.5-14 mag range suits your needs, I HIGHLY recommend that Burris.

I own several Leupolds and Bushnells and in the past have owned some other brands. My most recent purchase is a Fullfield II 4.5-14X, which I put on my Rem 700 BDL .270 deer rifle. It is one of the best scopes I have owned and used. The only better scope I have is a Leupold VX 3i 3.5-10X. I sold an older Burris to my nephew and it is his favorite scope. My recommendation is the Fullfield II.

How's the eye relief on on higher magnifications on the Fullfield? This will be on a .270 LA Savage for the time being.

At 14x with the eyepiece adjusted out as shown below there's 2.2" between the rubber-armored eyepiece and my eyebrow.

My Fullfield is on my Remington 700. 270. Just shot it today at 300 yard gongs. The 4.5-14X brought the gong up close. The eye relief is perfect and I could see the target very clearly. With some adjustment, I dead centered the gong. Hope I don't get buck fever when the time comes.
