Looking at the Bushmaster OCR for a while and thinking about buying one.
Any opinions?
How do they shoot?

the "optics ready carbine"?

a friend of mine got one a couple of years ago and it was ok. i dont think it was as good as our older bushmasters (shrouded firing pin, castlenut staking, gas key staking, etc,,,)

it wasnt terrible, but not great either. (it was extremely accurate though)

mine was very accurate and functioned very well. I wouldn't be ashamed to own one and wouldn't want to be out front of one.

When you give info

Please try to keep your cool when giving someone a bit information or an answer, all this back bitting is not the thing to do. Chill out dont answer if you cannot be cool. the people on this site are only asking for a bit of help or knowledge. Thanks one & all (ACE)

I just reread all the posts 3 times and have no earthly idea where the "backbiting" is.
What in the world are you talking about, ACE?

I had a Bushmaster ORC for two years and it performed without a hiccup.
I did restake the gas key but it was probably fine the way it was.
Good fit and finish. Had a chance to upgrade and sold it to a good friend.
I think you would be happy with it. But lots of choices out there.

@dK6

dk6,

I recently purchased a OCR off the shelf. I put a Geissele two stage in it, a magpul free floating 4 rail grip and that's all! OK, I threw a Trijicon Accupoint on it (never buy an ACOG, the Accupoint is the same except cheaper and with adjustable zoom!)
Just took her out to our range and shot 3, 10 round groups at .35 inches (about 5 mins between sets to cool the barrel). Wow! This is a stock rifle except for the mentioned changes!! It eats everything, everytime. I am a meticulous cleaner, but this rifle is a breeze. I can't believe how impressed I am with a $1000 purchase straight off the store shelf.

So now I have built a perfectly competent battle rifle that looks more like a little uzi. It's absolutely perfect for SHTF situations to absolutely destroying coyotes!! So much fun. It's truly a great rifle. (It's sooo nice to be pleasantly surprised for once.)
