Bushmaster tease...

Bushmaster doesn't need the advertising, that's for sure...

Those two industrious folks in the Washington D.C. area, with their old blue Chevy Caprice, took care of all the Bushmaster advertising needs for a while. :(

It's just a casting, and they have to make the molds anyway, so WHY NOT MAKE A DIFFERENT MAGWELL THAT TAKES FAL MAGS!!!!

I believe all Bushmasters have forged receivers. Your point stands about the magwell though. However, if I were Bushmaster, I might wait till next fall to see if the AWB goes away. Then there's no need for FAL mags.

Wait. They are going the wrong way. I don't want an AR action in .308. But I would not mind an FAL action in .223:uhoh:

Why would anyone want a mattel toy .308 when we have the FAL/M1A/M14 and variants?

Putting on asbestos suit.

FAL mags are not going to work in an AR style reciever and still function in a FAL if this could be done it would have been done by now DPMS, ASA and Armalite have looked at the possibility
At around $10.00 per FAL magazine, so what? One can afford to have FAL magazines for their FAL, and have modified FAL magazines for their AR-10 variant.
And a nice cozy cell in a Federal Pen. The magazines, if altered, still need to function in the original weapon.

i know theres a pony in here somewhere

Of course after September 14th 2004,
20 round AR10 mags are going to be $14.95

A-Ha! Another reason to dig back into my stack of regulations from the ATF!

I *knew* there was a reason I have a C&R FFL - it's a good way to learn something new every day, just wading through them. It took me a while to understand why old Mauser receivers and sporterized Mausers couldn't be sold as C&R, but once over that hurdle, I'm doing much better. OK, so the new AR-10 lowers need to be fabricated to take magazines that can still be used by their respective FN-FAL's or CETME's. If Knight's Armaments can tool up for an AR-47 that takes pivoting-catch AK magazines, then aluminum-smithing isn't too technologically out of reach...

Speaking of magazine interchangeability, anyone ever notice that a FN-FAL magazine will fit nicely in a French MAS-49 magwell? ;)

The only thing better would be if it took FAL mags...
FAL mags are not going to work in an AR style reciever and still function in a FAL

Well, I found out this weekend that they're supposed to accept FAL mags. :neener: Allows them to not need to make thier own and not rely on Armalite mags to feed them. Give it a yer and Bushmaster will buy them out too. :p

The Bushmaster rep over on the AR15.com Bushmaster forum has been very coy when this subject was broached.

I'm sure it will happen, but when, and what mags, is anyone's guess.

For hi caps to be legel under the assault weapon bill, the mags MUST work the the gun they were orginally designed for. If not you created a new magazine, which can get you at least 5 years in prison.

I would be ALL OVER an AR platform that took FAL mags. Ive got a check ready right now. Let's see if bushmaster is listening.

I hope they do NOT make a .308

It would be a letdown if that was the real product of the "teaser", at least for me.

:what: MSRP for 20" A2 (the one I'd be interested in) is $1756

[said using the voice of the Church Lady from SNL] Now isn't that special...

Sorry that's way more than I think a rifle like that's worth.

I don't fault BM for selling the things for what ever the market will bear - that is after all the nature of capitalism (and GOD knows I'm way pro-capitalism). But for this consumer my theoretical basket of desired goods doesn't have a BAR-10 in it at that price.

1760 is pretty freaking high. You could almost have a DS Arms FAL AND a Bushie AR-15 for that price...

Course, that's the MSRP. Most likely the retail will be a few hundred lower.

I just want them to come out with an A1-profile 20" upper assembly...

BAR=10

Almost 2 grand for a Bushy .308 ouch! The mag would be easy to convert though, IMHO sitting here looking at an fal mag, I think all that would be needed is to mill a rectangular hole in the left side and the appropriate grooves inside the reciever, fore and aft, change the follower maybe, should work. Still, almost 2 grand, ouch!!
