I would like opinions on the Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15 X 40 as a scope. What are the thoughts of fitting it onto a 25-06. I need the 15 power to sight hits on a paper target at 200yds.

I wouldn't say you need a 15x for 250 yds necessarily, but the 3200 is a good scope.

Thanks cbrgator for the comments.

The reason I want the X15 is so that I don't have to use a spotting scope, I have enough to carry to the bench. Apart from that my eyesight isn't what it used to be. The other reason I like this scope is that it has 4"+ eye relief with 70mm forward from the turret and 52mm to the rear. I need the scope back as far as I can get.

In addition to the poor eyesight I have a bad neck problem, it don't bend much. Can't give up shooting though.

I do not have any experience with the paticular model you are asking about. My .308 win encore pistol wears a 3200 2-6x32, my .270 rifle wears a 3-9x40 and my .260 rem wears a 3-9x40 all in the 3200 series of scopes. They have been clear as a bell. Hold zero well, light transmission is great for moring and evening hunts. IMHO they are right up there in quality to any burris, Mid-line Nikons, and Mid-line leupolds. Good scopes:)

I have been running that same scope on my ar varmiter for about 2,000 rounds and its still going strong. Fairly clear glass and I like the mil dot reticle. Got mine from optics planet for around $160 18 months ago.

A very good scope for the money...I think you could do worse on picking a magnification, but it will not be as bright at the higher power, but 5x is not bad on the low end. I say go for it.
