I bought the BC stock for my relatively new 10/22. I had never disassembled the rifle until I went to place it in the new stock. As I went to put the action in, a plastic piece fell on the table. Looks like it's about an inch sqaure, with two of the corners rounded to give it a bull nose shape. Has 10/22 printed on one side of it and it looks like it may be a spacer of some kind. I can't figure out where it came from. I know I sound like an idiot but can someone please tell me what this is and where it goes?

It may be a spacer that keeps the stock from collapsing before the receiver and barrel is installed... part of the packaging, I think. Does it fit snugly in the stock in the barrel channel?

I seem to remember a similar mystery piece when I put in my Butler Creek stock, but that was several years ago.

Thanks to everyone for pretty much confirming what I suspected. Just didn't know if I was somehow missing something. FWIW, I had already checked the manual and pretty much knew it wasn't from the weapon. Thanks again.

a friend of mine bought a BC stock and the fit was HORRIBLE. there was a gap of about 1/2" between the stock and the rear of the receiver.

does yours fit nice?

Actually, the fit wasn't THAT bad. There was, however, enough play that when I tightened the retaining screw, the action moved upward to the point that the safety was nearly touching the stock. For now, I just put it back in the wood stock. I wont be using the BC unless I can figure out a way to get a better fit.
