I am looking for Butler Creek Flip Caps for both the eye piece and the objective lens for my Simmons 3-9X40 8-Point Scope. Which models do I need? Thanks.

Measure the OD of the Eye Piece and Objective and then look at Butler-Creeks size chart on their website. I had to do the same thing with one of my old Redfields. For newer scopes you could find the dimensions on the scope manufacturer's website.

Do I want caps with a diameter slightly greater or slightly less than the measured diameter of the scope? Thanks.

Just a little tip - if you have the scope covers that came with it, they should have the OD molded on the inside. It is apart of the molding process and are on the inside of the caps.

Problem with that is, they are very likely to be slip-on covers.

The Butler Creek covers are designed to stay tightly in place once installed. If you order the slip-on size, the Butler Creeks will be too loose to stay on by a friction fit.

RC - true. I sized down a little bit and they fit snug and perfect. I would highly recommend these caps. much easier and quieter then fidgeting with slip on covers. not to mentioning misplacing the covers
