Buy a gun day

Maybe you got the July idea from here:
http://www.lewrockwell.com/e-cobb/e-cobb8.html

What do you mean "count"? It's purely a symbolic gesture. I suppose if you wanted to say that it generates a 4473, then that would make it count more than an upper.

It's like a one day gas boycott, it's not going to make a hell of a lot of difference. Buy whatever you want, when you want.

gun-deals.com is the only reference that I can find, and it says 07/03. I saw it on THR about 2 months ago, but cannot find it again.

"Count" is a relative term. I'm trying to decide between an AR lower for me or a rifle/shotgun combo for my as yet unborn son.

ARFCOM had it a while back too July 3rd BGD because most funshops are closed on the 4th.

You need a FFL for the lower so yes it counts.

I ordered a revolver and hopfully it comes in tommorow so I will do my part.

There was a thread about buying a gun on July 4 to celebrate the occasion, and then it was changed to July 3 because many gun stores will be closed July 4. An AR lower definitely counts.

No, the lower does not count. You need to buy the rest of the gun too. :D

Check out the 'Legal and Political' discussion for 'Jessie Jackson to lead nationwide gun protest'. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to purchase a new firearm, get some additional ammunition, buy a new range bag, get some eye/ear protection, or go to the local range.

No need for a counter-protest (we vote with our purchase...come to think of it, that IS a counter protest). I'm fully convinced the Rev Jackson is suffering from attention deficit, and he's a long way from filling his tank.

There are a lot of good dates from which to choose! (As related below, though, Tax Day is my favorite. That's also the one I've heard most often promoted as Buy a Gun day; since Congresscritters waste time and resources to declare things like National Pickle Day, perhaps some rep would be willing to officialize this one as well ;) But No, there's no "official" Buy a Gun day, at least nothing more official than International Talk like a Pirate Day.)

[For all of the dates below, please read as "the closest date on which stores are open, with a leaning toward days before rather than after."]

So, without getting *too* silly (Arbor day is good to buy a Garand, *and* plant the tree for a new stock!), I submit the following:

Tax Day is my favorite gun-buying day.
(And Paul Revere's ride of April 18/19 gets some credit here, too.)

Last Monday in May is Decoration Day / Memorial day -- a good tribute to those who've died in military service is to reduce the chance that this country will ever be attacked (at least by a conventional army)

Independence Day is a good choice, always!

Halloween? Sure -- tell 'em you're going to be a crazy militia member, I guess, or the always unpredictable American Citizen.

Guy Fawkes day (5th November) seems an excellent one as well.

In years where it applies, Election Day is certainly a good day to buy a gun. ("Don't blame me, I elected to buy a gun.")

Thanksgiving is not a bad one -- very appropriate, in fact, IMO.

December 7: U.S. soil invaded (however you feel about the acquisition of Hawaii)

Christmas (though I believe in no relgiion, I do enjoy getting and giving presents, whether on Christmas or any other occasion) is definitely a good time for buying guns for those you love.

New Year's Day: "A new year? A new gun!"

Picked up my S&W Model 27 no-dash 4-screw (1960) today and will apply it to whatever Buy a Gun Day comes up next.

Waiting for CMP to announce the availability date for the Underwood M1 Carbine - THAT will be my next Official Buy a Gun Day

I bought a NIB Colt Viper that ought to be here tomorrow for the 4473 form !

yes, today is buy a gun day! one of the local shops is even having a special deal, spend $500 get $20 off your purchase. go buy yourself a gun today!

don't have to be expensive, a $50 Nagant would be perfect, support the country, buy a gun!

Cliff47: Great point, and quite professionally stated! Thanks for that spin on the JJ topic!

HUMONGO: I say an AR lower counts, because it requires a back-ground check. JMHO.

All: I recently posted here on THR that I am surprised that the local Dunham (which happens to be the Nat'l Headquarters) does not have any special sale going on for the 4th Re: firearms.

Besides celebrating RKBA, we are all also celebrating our right to assemble (associate), our right to express, etc. This thread is chalk full of Constitutional rights. :)
