Which lever action 22?

  • Marlin 39a. Higher quality and more aftermarket peeps available from $25 to $150+. :)

  • Henry, just as much accuracy potential as the Marlin 39a. That silly Marble tang peep costs $120+ :(

  • Other, see my suggestion for a lever action 22.

another vote for the Marlin 39A.
I have one made n 2009 and another made in 1969.
The older has a better fit and finish, with a beautiful walnut stock. The newer one, while nice pales in comparison to the older.

Think used.
Think pawn shop.

I bought the henry trapper model (big loop) because it physically matched the ergonomics of my rossi 92 trappers model in 44mag (big loop). Same sight radius so it was great for cheap practice without busting up the shoulder and wallet with the 44...

It is a great plinker...

Oh I am. :)

Unfortunately, times are tight and I'm not the only one pawn shop surfing. A friend of mine owns one and he is on the lookout for a Marlin, but I'm not holding my breath.

It isn't made of "pot metal", it is die cast aluminum.
It's ZAMAK, a zinc-based alloy, which is no more than glorified pot metal. Used because of its low melting point, which makes it cheaper and easier to manipulate. I really don't care what guns have aluminum receivers. Leverguns should be blued or case hardened steel. Not pot metal, not ZAMAK and not aluminum. Alloys other than steel and brass are okay on a 10/22 but keep them away from my leverguns.

That's fine, you don't have to buy one... But i'm more of a guy doesn't mind if they are pot metal, as long as they work and keep on working, and mine are.

I'm not reading all over the net that Henry lever guns are failing... So, just don't buy one, and the rest of us will keep on shooting our Henry's...
