Buying a new In-Line Muzzleloader?

I think top muzzleloaders are like top trucks, they all have slightly different features but they are all pretty solid in the end and anyone of them can satisfy your needs.

I will be buying one soon, and that is what it seems to me - that they are all ok brands, and it depends on what you want. There doesn't seem to be a Jennings of the muzzleloading world.

THeres no doubt who rules the inline industry Thompson CENTER,THE BEST PERIOD.

Yeah, tell me about it. i have a TC Black Diamond that has been a very good gun from day one. Then there is that wonderful Encore that i bought. The thing cost $565 plus tax. The fiber optic rod fell out of the front sight the first day the gun was on the range. The barrel had side play at the breech because the hinge pin was .005 out of round: No one at TC really cared. One had remove the ejector in order to remove the breech plug. Those fast thinking marketeers at TC had that covered with their after market tilting ejector: But that cost more money plus shipping. Then there were the misfires because the hammer spring was too weak. Bellms had that covered with their extra stout hammer spring. The bore of that gun was so rough that it loaded only with great difficulty. That required a long session using jeweler's rouge on a series of patches to smooth out the bore.

Yep, my TC Encore is a great gun now.

.

Every company has a bad gun or two, its inevitable in the manufacturing process.

However, T/C has been at the top of the heap of muzzleloading for a long time and considered the Cadillac of muzzleloaders and the bar that at others need to meet.

There are muzzleloaders that are just as good and cheaper now, but they don't have the repuation that T/C has.

I was asking the same questions several months ago and after a great deal of online research I decided on the CVA Accura. It got universally stellar reviews and really did seem like the 'most bang for the buck'. So I went ahead and bought one.

It arrived and looked to be extremely well made. It balanced beautifully and had a great trigger and fiber optic sights. It even came with a scope mount and sling.

Then before I could shoot it, I got infected by a desire to make a traditional flintlock Pennsylvania longrifle, and that desire has overwhelmed my need or desire for an inline muzzleloader.

So.. I am selling my Accura! If you are interested let me know. My email is [email protected].
