buying a pistol, what do you all think of the Ruger P345

I shoot a KP345D, a decock only model. Therefore, no problem with the safety on drawing the pistol. I don't know why this is a problem even with the decock/safety models, just leave the damned safety off - the gun is then ready to fire with, and ONLY with, a long double action pull of the trigger.

The gun is extremely accurate, eats any kind of ammo that I've found, has very controllable recoil, and it is a .45. Size and weight are about the same as a Light Weight Colt Commander. It is smooth enough and flat enough for concealed carry with an untucked shirt or a jacket. For my uses, this is the best gun at any price.

That said, for you an EAA Witness, similar to the CZ75, in 9mm might be better. It is relatively inexpensive, reliable, accurate, and 9mm ammo is about 60% of the price charged for 45ACP. My son shoots one with a polymer frame, and it is one of the best 9mm’s I ever shot. You can’t go wrong with this one.

Or buy a .22 and practice, practice, practice for pennies. You can buy a center fire pistol later, and a .22 is always a good way to keep eye and hand sharp.

It's a Ruger auto. Not attractive to a lot of people but who cares? I'd rate these things at the top with the other top guns for reliability. You can't break the things.
