Buying CA off-roster firearms via Single Shot Exemption

If you live in California and want to buy firearms not on the CA approved roster, you may do it using the Single Shot Exemption.

The discussion thread on Calguns.net explains the process involved and lists participating firearm manufacturers/FFLs/vendors in and out of California.

Gun related laws/practices are continuously changing/being challenged in California (example is the use of bullet button for CA legal purchase of AR rifles with pistol grips) and stay updated to exercise your right to keep and bear "CA legal" arms.

What exactly is the Single Shot exception?

I have been to enough ca gun shows to have heard the term and for the most part it seems to apply to pistolized rifles. I understand that it has something do with importing the gun as a single shot wich makes it legal, but I am wondering if you are breaking the law restoring the the gun to normal?

Everybody complains about the laws in CA & a lot of people leave to get away from them. I can't say I blame them, but Kudos to those who stick around and do something improving them!

Nothing to do with rifles, just applying a set of exceptions to the handgun Roster as laid out in the Penal Code, and being sure to follow the rules.

Restoring the handgun to normal operation is legal; not different from changing the grip panels or replacing a firing pin.

CA DoJ maintains a list of approved handguns. Anything not listed may not be sold or imported. Most guns out of production are not listed because it costs money so only currently available handguns are kept there by manufacturers so they can sell them.

The law exempts SA revolvers. Apparently if the seller is willing to make a DA revolver SA only it can be imported into the state. This certainly violates the spirit if not the letter of the law but since it's clearly an un-Constitutional law (upheld by Commie judges damn them to Hell) I applaud efforts to circumvent it.
