I have contacted a couple of different people via email to find out about some custom ammo. Im wanting a heavy bullet in the 223 for deer. If you know of any good businesses I can check out then please let me know. Also let me know if there is anything I need to watch out for with these types of business.
Thanks

Why bother.

Almost without exception, .223 heavy bullets are match grade bullets, and are not at all suitable for deer hunting. They either will not expand at all, or will tumble and come apart.

Factory loads for deer include the Winchester 64gr. Power-Point, Federal 55gr. Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, and the Federal 60gr. Nosler Partition.

You would be hard pressed to do better then that.

Thanks rcmodel. I have two boxes of the Federal 60 grain on its way so I have not given them a fair chance for accuracy. Besides those loads you mentioned Ive heard of some heavier Barnes bullets that I thought I might like to try but would require someone else loading them for me.
Also thanks for the link. I had read that articles a few days ago prior to my researching in to this matter. Sounds like I might be better off with the factory loads.

Thank Oldcoyote I put that in my favorites. I believe Im going to try the factory ammunition first before I commit myself to other options. But it depends on the quantity and price. I will wait to hear from some other sources but right now all arrows are pointing toward factory loads for my purpose.
Thanks
