I showed up on here a few weeks ago asking about some shotguns and got some great advice and have started a few "What If" threads involving my purchase options and have been very flippy-floppy ever since i joined about what im buying. Here's the deal.

As of last Tuesday i had Jaw Surgery, that is the last of 3 of them. For various reasons since 2004 i have been awaiting or recovering from some medical procedure and as such my muscle has gone way up and down. However all that is over now, when i recover in about a month I will be in a solid health state and will know how much muscle I have.

Why does all this matter?

A large factor of my purchase has been the caliber, size, and weight of the firearm i can handle and i will finally have something to go off of that ISNT changing. In fact I even have a guy lined up to sell me a Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag. The last thing i did before surgery on Monday night was go out with one of my friends and shoot some trap with him for some more caliber testing, with a Remington 870 12-Gauge Vent Rib i actually busted the first 3 clays EVER in my life.

So you can expect to see me around the next 3 weeks while im laid up doing nothing (surgical recovery has the effect of causing trolling), but then im FINALLY going to be in a position to make my first Firearm Purchase... Woohoo for my first gun and NO MORE SURGERY!

The remington 870 is a great shotgun. I own a Mossberg 500 but I've always liked the Benelli's. If you got the cash an 870 would be a great buy and its extremly easy to customize for any of your needs. Hope the procedures go well.

Remington 1100 or 11-87 kick less than pumps, if that matters. (which sounds to me like it does)

The reason for the buying the particular 835 Mossberg is that the gun fits my body, the weight is reasonable (a little heavy but if i practice mounting it daily for a month it should be good to hold if for a bit), I like the 20" Barrel and the fact that the gun is Overbored to cut recoil.

Also i happen to have an acquaintance with the owner of MagnaPort in Michigan so getting the barrel ported will be cake.

If this gun gets sold im back to debating 870 Remington or Mossberg 500, id love a semi-auto but dont have the funds.

I'm thinking you should probably get a Saiga 12, It has low recoil, is semi automatic, and doesnt require racking.
