So, say hypothetically, smeone answers my " I wanna buy a Ruger Security Six " and he is from a different state which I am in Montana. I know I send him the money, and then how does he send me the gun? Can he just ship it or does he have to go somewhere like a ffl dealer and have them ship it? thanx Travis

States have different laws, and I have no idea about your state, but usually cross-state sales have to go through at least 1 FFL.

Most likely, if he's a non-FFL, he gives it to his FFL who sends it to your FFL, who gives it to you (with everyone filling out the necessary paperwork, and paying the transfer fees).

Packing.org should have details about your state laws.

From most states the seller could legally send it to your in state ffl BUT many
ffl's do not want the risk of dealing with an unknown source of firearms. Thus many
ffl's will only except out of state transfers from another ffl.

My local store has had so many problems with these kinds of transfers he has upped
his transfer price to fifty plus and is talking about going to a hundred to eliminate
dealing with these transfers.
