Howdy, just picked up a Ruger 10-22 Take-Down today. Grabbed a BX-25 as well. Two questions:

1. Is it normal that the magazine "rattles" quite a bit when empty?
2. Though the magazine is "snug" when I attach it to the rifle, it doesn't give a good snap or click. Is that normal? The 10 round mag snaps nicely.

(note: I haven't shot the rifle yet, will soon...worried about this mag in the meanwhile)

I will check this out tomorrow and give an answer. I have three of the mags and two rifles but have never noticed any issues. That doesn't mean I have not HAD the issues.

I am more concerned about the "snap" -- when I insert the mag there's a bit of a thud ... it doesn't come out without releasing, but there is no sharp snap as occurs with the 10 round mag.

Sorry but I forgot this and then went out of town. I tried everything out this morning and there was a bit of a difference in the sound associated with inserting the mags. The 25 rounders had more of a "thud" than a "snap" like the 10 rounders. On mine it was still very apparent when the 25 rd mags seated in the gun. All of my 25s are loaded so I did not test the rattle.

GP100Wii I have two of the magazines and like jrdolall says, the 25 rd mags do kinda thud in place instead of snap like the 10 rd mags but I have never had any trouble with the 25 rd mags coming out or not seating all the way

I own 2 bx25s for my 10 22, yes they both rattle when empty, yes it stops with rounds in and no it doesn't click when inserted, your mag is fine. a good habit I got into when dealing with ARs that has carried over to all my other semis is to insert the mag and then tug to make sure that it seated properly. you'll never have to worry about accidentally dumping a mag in a 1022 again if you follow that easy step.

The rattle is just the follower, it's long and narrow and slightly undersized. My mom got a 10/22 yesterday (her first gun! :D) and we picked up a BX-25, noticed the rattle. Moved it around and looked at the follower, it was wiggling around.
