Bye Bye Glocks etc.

Well guys I have pretty much decided that I will primarilly stick to on style of handgun from now on, the 1911, although there are a couple of exceptions. Today I went out and traded off my Glock 23, my Kimber Tactical Pro II, and my Remington 870. I traded for a Mossberg 590 w/ ghost ring sights, and a Kimber TLE/RL II. I have decided that I will primarilly stick to 1911's for hand guns. I traded away the Tac Pro because I really don't see any reason for the shorter length and I don not shoot it often due to the alloy frame. I really wanted the TLE because getting rid of my 23 left me without a mount for my M3 Tac light. I kept my 23 for my primary home deffense gun. The TLE should fill that roll nicely now. The exception to the 1911 rule will be my Kahr MK40 which is a great pocket gun, Taurus 85 Total Titanium because everyone should have a snubby, and my Beretta 96 which I got for free and really like. Well sorry for the rambling. I am Just really happy with the 1911 design and find that I shoot it better than anything else so I intend to concentrate on them more. I will post pics of Mossy and Kimber TLE when my 10 days are up. Not quite the man with one gun concept but close. Cheers.

Some people sell there guns so easily. Its something thats very hard for me. I have never sold a firearm to this day. Sometimes I think about it though, because I have a bunch I don't shoot anymore. One of my shooting friends sells/trades his firearms like a 10 year old with baseball cards. No way I would have sold the Glock though, everyone I know who sells there Glocks, especially the 23, usually regrets it. Oh well each there own.

From a pure serious self defense concept I really like the idea of one system. My "problem" is that shooting/guns are more than self defense to me. They are my main hobby and recreationational sport, therfore I like a little variety

Actually, in keeping with a standard manual of arms, my defensive weapons are all based on the CZ-75 (whether Witness or CZ). All such training then is equal, regardless of caliber.

Now, I have a CZ-52, Colt Trooper Mk III, and a Ruger Mk II, all of which I shoot from time to time (the 52 is very similar in layout to the 75 as far as safety goes, different angles, but same thumb-action), but never drill with. In order to stay consistent, I only use the 75-based guns.

Of course, that is because I consider the 75 to be the very best design of handgun out there (a conclusion completely independent of Cooper). That is not to say that mine is better than yours, just personal preference. I KNOW there are those who really like Glocks, Berrettas, 1911's, High Powers, etc, so this isn't a post on why the 75 is better than all the rest, just personal opinion. I personally don't care for Glocks, but it is more a lack of manual safety or hammer than anything else (I hunt, especially high-energy duck/goose and rabbit hunting, therefore using a safety, especially in quick-responce situations is pretty well ingrained in my psyche.) but have nothing wrong with people who do like them.

I'm with you ddj8052. If I don't use them or have a need for them, I dump them. Might as well have what you use and what you shoot well and enjoy shooting. It's nice to have different ones, but in the end, I have to have a use (or "potential" use - key word there, let's me rationalize keeping and having alot more) for them.

I kind of end up accumulating and accumulating, then I dump alot, then I accumulate and accumulate, then I dump alot.

Rule #1 I grew up with: Never sell your guns.

Unless I won one that was worth a fortune and could sell it and buy a bunch of ones I want, they're staying in my collection.

I also have the CZ75 System. From my oldest CZ75 to the new RAMI.
Oddly, I shoot well with a 1911, but far better with most any CZ.
The RAMI points like a chopped 1911 and i'm trying to get used to it.

With no more interest in Revolvers. I've sold all of mine and bought CZ
pistols or rifles. Wish CZ would make a combat pump shotgun someday..
then I'd retire my old Mossy.

Go for it.

You can learn more about that style gun and do some or all of your repairs and modifications. You can get into reloading and not need to change things as much or stock all sorts of different primers and bullets and stuff.

I am still slowly selling things off, but I have settled down a lot and mostly I did it because I like how these guns shoot.

I also come from the line of thought that, "Your stuff owns you." So simplifying is something I am working on these days.

Well...I think that this makes sense really (focusing on 1 fundamental platform or design therefore making it easier to master). But I just can't do it. I have no discipline whatsover. And it does take discipline for sure.

Never sell guns

I sold a Ruger p-90, and I miss it. Ugly gun but damn I liked it. Even though I replaced it with a Sig, I still miss it.
