C&R - moving/address change

So I am looking at my C&R app, and am thinking of sending it in, but I am moving to Birmingham in a few months and wonder how hard it is to change addresses with the ATF.

Do you basically just notify them, or do you have to reapply (specifically do you have to notify the new CLEO again)?

Also, since I've never seen one, does it have your address on the license (I would bet it did)?

Given that I've heard about the renewal notices being backed up, getting a new license with my new address might be a lengthy process too, so maybe I should just wait till I get to AL.

You just notify them and they send you a replacement license with the new address listed. I think the last time I moved, it only took about 2-3 weeks.

They have a special change of address form. When I received my C&R license, I seem to recall one being in the packet.

Its njo big deal, you just gotta do it.

You also have to submit the change of address at least 30 days before moving.

The form is ATF Form 5300.38 - Application for an Amended Federal Firearms License . .

The 30 days if mainly for 01-FFLs since they can only do business at their licensed premises. Without the new FFL, they cannot transfer guns. It's not that big of a deal for C&Rs. You just cannot receive any new guns until the dealer has a corrected copy of your 03-FFL.

Not a big deal. As Hkmp5sd said, you just fill out an ATF Form 5300.38 and mail it in, along with your original license. Took about three weeks to receive my ammended license when I recently moved from MD to PA.
