My C&R came up for renewal for the first time. It was due to expire at the end of June and I sent in my renewal forms at the beginning of June. The check was promptly cashed but I have yet to receive any paperwork.

Before I chase this down the bureaucratic rabbit hole, can anyone tell me if this is a reasonable delay?

thanks in advance.

I applied several weeks ago for mine. Payment cleared, but no license yet :(

I saw a thread recently where someone said it took them a little over 2 months to get theirs....maybe they are backed up?

I can deal with the delay as long as they are still being processed.

thanks guys.

On the plus side, if your existing one has expired, and when you receive the new one it has a later effective date, you can tear up your existing bound book and start over with a blank.

somewhere in the paperwork"they"say allow at least 60 days to process.that was pre 9-11 times. mine has been that +or- a week...jwr

You should be ok, the authorities check the state website to double check usually anyhow. At least in my experiences with shipping or recieving through local FFL's, because my license has my old address. It says on the state of fl site, that it's not necessary to change it on the license, as long as you notify the state. It should be similar for your renewal, they can see that you payed your fee on the site. They actually sent me my renewal last month when it's up end of December, 6 months early, the state must need money.Your state law may differ
Got my renewal 5 months early, good for 7 yrs, now 7yrs and 5 months. It took a week to come back. Added this today, so Fl is on the ball with speed and I guess like everyone else they needed the cash.

No it won't. As long as you submit the renewal prior to expiration, your new license will just be a continuance of the old one with the same FFL number, except for the expiration code. If the renewal was submitted, your old license is valid for 90 days after expiration.

It arrived today so it was about 6-7 weeks. Now to put it to use.

SMLE or Mauser and which flavor?

Mine expires June 2011, does ATF send me the renewal forms, or do I have to get them myself?

BATF should send the renewal form approximately 90 days before your license expires.

Thanks! Important for me to know!

I'm looking at the form order list now, which is the renewal?

F 7CR (5310.16) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms

F 5310.16 (F7CR) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms

I'll check my records... Sorry, I didn't mean to say I downloaded the form. I used that page to order the form. For some reason, they are not downloadable.

If in doubt, order both...

I sent my renewal in late by a couple of days. It expired June 1st. I mailed the renewal on the 3rd or 4th. My check was cashed on the 10th of June and I still haven't recieved my new license.

I've "misremembered" some of my process and have garbled the initial application process with the renewal.

First - my renewal form did indeed come from the ATF with most of the information already filled out. For my license expiring on July 1, it looks like the renewal app arrived in April. This is ATF Form 8 (5310.11). I don't know if this is available online but if you don't get a copy within 60 days of expiration, I'm sure you can request one - but I wouldn't wait too long.

When I started, I got most of my info here: http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/howtogetyourcurionrelicffl03/index.asp

Neither is the renewal. They are both the same form used for initial application. All the BATF forms are listed twice, once under the approval number (F 5310.16) and then under the form number (F7CR).
