Hi I need some good advice., I have a couple of related Questions

ON Internet searches, i found reports that claim internet ammo sales will banned in ca after Dec, other post claim that will be after Jan, and some claim the whole law will definatly be defeated in court so there is nothing to worry about. Anyone know the facts on this matter.

If internet ammo is banned, i am considering ordering a 1000 case through JGsales and that would last me a while, they have some good deals but I have some concerns. First, for background, my AR has a 16" non chromed barrel & bolt, i think its a 1/9 twist. Since I finished getting it together, I have only had it out for a test drive once so far, and have not even finished sighting it in ( forgot a punch to help turn the front post & the flip up front post was too small to use a bullet tip like I orig planned ). Anyways, I had had two types of 223 on hand, all 55gn fmj, one was hots shot in brass cases and that worked completely fine, the other was TCW (Tula) with the grean laquered steel cases and I had 2 or 3 ftf from the that.

JG Has wolf, Tula, and Brown For sale at great prices, but I know those are all russian, I am really tempted by 223 WOLF 75gr HP, 1000 rounds. for like 245 shipped.

My Concerns, is it foolish to order that much ammo when I have no experience with it through my weapon? Would it be smarter to just pay a little more and experiment with brands I find through local sources?

The rifle may possibly be used for hunting ( which local law requires the use of soft or hollow point rounds ) or HD, but primary use is fun, plinking at the range and thinking how great it is to be doing that on my terms, instead of Uncle Sams.

What do you think? Thanx in advance.

I have no idea about Kalifstan law, but it would be foolish to buy 1,000 rounds of steel-case Russian ammo without testing some of it in your rifle first.

It will probably work, but maybe it won't.

Surely you can find some Wolf, Tula, or Brown Bear Russian 75 HP ammo locally to test a few boxes first. That you had 2-3 FTF (fail to feed , or fail to Fire?) with Tula is not a very encouraging start.
Might even be what is sometimes refered to as a clue!

Well if there is a ban you won't have any trouble selling it if your rifle doesn't like it. So no loss but of course that doesn't do you much good as far as feeding yours.

I've stocked up on Wolf just in case but fortunately it does work in my AR. Probably will in yours.

Looks like J&G will continue selling it to CA:

one of their reps called me and I asked about the COE/C&R exemption. He said that to his knowledge they will be honoring it. He also said RIFLE ammo such as .223 or 7.62x39 would continue to be sold to people without COE/C&R. It is not designed as pistol ammo, therefore it is not pistol ammo.

Thamkyou Chrono, thats a relief

Thanks for the info, now that i know there is no deadline, i think I will try to round up a box or 2 of that stuff locally and see how it works before investing in a case of it

AB 962 targets handgun ammo, though there is some confusion for ammo that is typically fired from both rifles and handguns. You should be good to go for .223's.
