That's good news to hear! I already have two Cabella's 1858's so I won't be responding to this flyer, but it gives me hope that they will put others on sale this summer and fall like they did the last couple of years. I even have some money set aside for once to take advantage of it if they do. I love getting guns delivered right to my door!

Avoid the brass-framed revolvers. Get a steel frame, even if it costs you a little more. It will last longer, you can use full loads in a steel framed gun if you desire, and you'll almost certainly find that fit and finish are better than with brass-framed guns.
There's a reason why brass-framed revolvers sell for less: less effort is spent making and finishing them.

Already got a steel-framed 1858. Really wish they had a steel-framed Colt at that price - preferably an 1851 in the "proper" .36 cal.
I have a Cabela's branded 1860 and it's actually made my Pietta.

Currently Cabela's is showing the flier on line and offering free shipping on $99+ orders. Price shipped for the '58 is basically $180 in US to places they can ship BP to with one week shipping.
THis past week that is better than the decent looking used '58s have sold for an Gunbroker when on figures shipping.

I don't actually intend on not buying from Cabela's ,I'm sure I probably will...BUT I want everyone to be aware that they no longer accept returns on mail order guns. I don't know about instore purchaces.

Those are great prices! The Standard '58 remington is without question one of the stoutest revolvers ever made! Just be aware of shooting too large of a ball as the Loading arm will bend (and subsiquentlly always drop!) if bent ramming .457 balls. I know as I bent mine and am at a quandry about how to fix it??? I fear I have ruined the gun.
The "one" to buy is the 5 1/2" Remington! It handles like a 4" Colt or 4 5/8 Vaquero and points like a dream!
Buying Leather Wear for the 5 1/2"Remington is sorta trickey as the revolver nearly fits the smaller B/P holsters but the rise of the drame and diameter of the cylinder is slightlly larger than a Colt-Style and the Remington can and does fit well in many Centerfire Holsters designed for Peacemaker-type revolvers. I use a 5 inch Oklahoma Leather, Crossdraw for my 5 1/2" and it fits securely. The holster features a Hammer thong and cost was under $40.
The Brass framed Colt is the wrong caliber but for a fun Plinker and if alwsys light loaded, you'll have a fun shooting revolver for a long time! I have a full sized Brass .44 and really enjoy it. I load 20 Gr of B/P or Pyrodex, and haven't had problem one with the revolver. I also shoot .451 balls and patch or Crisco the cylinders. With the 20 gr load power is more than adequate even should one need to defend onself against a 2 legged varmit!
Far as the Brass framed revolvers go, they can pack well in all small Leather designed for the Navy.
Again I would try to buy the 5" version as it will handle best and have the strongest rammer arm. Yes .454 balls will be a little hard to bottom with the short rod but the advantagious handling of a shorter barrel ought to be great! I'd really like to have a 5" even if it was Brass Framed!
I just like shorter barrels for pointability!

got my 58 Remmy 5 1/2 bbl today. Took er out for a test drive.
At 15 paces. first 6 shots.
Here she is dirtied up a bit. I put 24 round through it.

Thanks for posting this. Just placed my order for one (8" barrel, which I prefer) and a spare cylinder. Free delivery.
I got one of these the last time they were on sale and they are an excellent value. I usually like the grip and balance of the Colt C&Bs better but I shoot the Remingtons at least as well. For the first time I'll have a matched pair of revolvers.

I'm seriously considering getting another 5.5" Remington and another spare cylinder, and some more lubed wads while I'm at it.
I'd like to convert one to .45 Colt, but I already have an EAA Big Bore Bounty Hunter in .45 Colt, and the conversion cylinder would pretty much pay for another BP revolver. Perhaps the Target Remington, or the Remington Police .36.
Or maybe an 1860 Colt (sacrilege, but Junkman01 has gotten to me with his love of the 60 Colt)

thanks for the heads up. I ordered a Remmie this am.
I looked at a used 36 Pietta Remmie a few weeks ago and was impressed with everything but the price. (Owner wanted $225.00 firm when they are $4 more new) To save almost $40 and get new, I can live with a 44 cal.
