Why should this surprise anyone? Many folks (including Ann Coulter) warned that he was NOT as conservative as some people thought.

Someone should remind Governator Arnold Kennedy Shriver that California already has a state level assault weapons ban and ask him to point out exactly which of the dogs in this fight belongs to him.

And for those who say that Arnie can't do anything to pass the AWB renewal, I'd say that, being the Gov of California, Arnie must have some pull.

We're talking about the Governor of California, who only has his office because of the incredible incompetence of his predecessor, who happens to be married to a Kennedy, who, in spite of his action-movie actor status, has never been a gun-rights kinda guy, now announces he's all for an extension of the AWB.

Surprized? No way. I'd be surprized if he'd announced that he's for the death of the ban.
 
But remember, he secretly give lots of money to gun rights organizations so, *winkwink* he's OK...:barf:

Anyone who thought he was anything other than a gun grabbing RINO was seriously confused.
 
AFAIK, lifting the Federal AWB would have no discernalbe effect here in Calif anyway, we have our own set of banned "assault weapons".:(

Is there a place in the US where you could still have a Daewoo USAS-12 fully automatic 12 gauge shotgun with a 20-round drum magazine? If so, in how many states and how long will it last?
 
Don't think there are any states where you can own that unless you are a Class 3 SOT and got a LE agency to sign letters for it. None of them were registered as MGs before 1986 so all of them are either semi-auto Destructive Devices or untransferable to civilians.

Don't much care about Arnie's opinion of the Federal AW ban as he has no say in the matter. What I am concerned about it what he'll do when gun control bills start showing up on HIS desk.

I'll bet Arnie has more of a say at the national level than you would think.
 
He denounced and renounced his father. He would not even attend his father's funeral when he died. To call him a Nazi is not a fair statement.

We call people Nazis every day using the term as descriptive of their politics and actions. In this case, the term is being used as factual; that he actually is a true Nazi adherent because his father was a true Nazi adherent.

< sarcasam >It seems to me that Schwarzenegger is really good at the "stealth" part. Maybe someone should tell him the election's over. Or is he being stealthy for a future election? Thta must be it: after his election to his second term as U.S. president (assuming that amend the constitution to allow it) then he'll come out as a pro-gun guy. Damn but that boy can act - never would have thought it from his movies, but he has this "pretend to be anti-gun thing down until it's safe to admit to being pro-gun" down cold. Hell, if I didn't know better I'd think he was an anti! < / sarcasm >

Schwarzenegger was makign anti-gun statements before & during his campaign. No surpise that he's making them afterwords.

As Governor he doesn't have that much influence with national politics. However as a shinign star in the republican camp he does have some sway. I don't think it'll affect things that much, but he could be an effective PR asset for republicans like Bush who support the ban.

Bush pressuring congress would damn near ensure the AWB get srenewed & there's a chance that Schwarzenegger will (thourgh example or discussion) prompt Bush to take a more active role in renweing the AWB.

< sarcasm > Too bad there wasn't a non-stealth pro gun conservative like McClintock running for offie last year. < / sarcasm >
