seeing that everyone has a different opinion for for what caliber to use for the following uses. i wanna see them.

this is all on the ar-15 lower all calibers except 50 bmg and 50 beowulf.

1. home defense sbr 7.5 to 10.5 inch barrel un-suppressed

2. just a kill some ammo plinker

3. varmints/small game

4. deer/hog and other large game

must be able to be used on the ar-15 not another rifle

.223 will do most of the above.

but in some states it is illegal to hunt with .223

in that case if moving to a state with a more intelligent game and fish commision is out of the question you should select .223 .223 .223 and whatever larger than .224 AR suitable chambering of your choice. 6.8spc, 7.62x39, 30HRT, 450bushmaster ect ect. It matters little which one you choose

Too short, and SBR is a hassle. 14.5" with permanent flash hider to get 16". Chambered in traditional 5.56mm.

2. just a kill some ammo plinker

Same as above

3. varmints/small game

24" HBAR upper in .204. But I prefer a bolt gun for this, like my M77VT .220 Swift.

4. deer/hog and other large game

ASI .25 Leviathan upper. But again, I use one of several bolt rifles for this task.

here is what i was thinking

1. home defense sbr 7.5 to 10.5 inch barrel un-suppressed= 45acp

2. just a kill some ammo plinker= 22lr

3. varmints/small game .223

4. deer/hog and other large game = 6.8 spc or .243WSSM

Just for krochus.... .257 Roberts for all uses, there is no better for any use on any game, case closed.

LOL

9mm or 40 for badguys at arms length, 12 ga. 00buck for badguys at a slight distance, 7.62x39 for 75 yards or further, 7mm. rem. mag. for deer and yetti. 22lr for cats.

For a pistol length AR I'd seriously consider a pistol round. I'd chose the 10mm, but others are worthy as well.

Getting decent magazines for pistol caliber ar's is the problem. What exactly would be the advantage of owning a handgun chambered SBR versus a conventional handgun?

when your not allowed to own a handgun.

im only 18

Under Federal law*, you can own one. Just can't buy it from an FFL. Buy privately. I had a dozen handguns before I turned 21

****check your state and local laws first!****

i have some i own but my dad is holding them currently.

ruger mark 2
beretta px4
colt combat commander
glock g33

ill be selling the ruger and the "block"

1.) .45 ACP w/Uzi mags w/o bothering with the SBR, or, to keep it simple, 5.56
2.) .223
3.) .223
4.) .308 won't work on a standard AR-15 lower. 6.8 or, for cheaper ammo, 7.62x39

270

270 is agood all around caliber shoots flat and fast.I sold my 270 and went with 7 mm mag but it is really too much gun for anything under 200 lbs.The 270 would do just fine.

saying in the ar-15 i think not is kinda of a blanket statement.

seeing that all your lower is is a hammer (basically)

the ar-15 can be just as accurate as anything else with the correct upper receiver.

can easily be turned into a bolt action with an upper. i have scans of targets at 300 yds if i can find them ill post up
