Calibers That Accept Small AND Large Primers

6.5 Grendel PPU brass uses LR primers, and 6.5 Grendel Hornady and other brands uses SR primers. .

Honestly in these times I like the ability to load either. If your buying cheap and stacking deep small primers will do just about everything I need minus 45 colt. Of course I traded a spp gun for a lrp gun so that's always in flux. Ever see any srp 30-30.

I can't speak to how similar the loads with the small and large primers perform in the 45 ACP because I have never loaded the small primer brass. I have a few hundred set aside in case I need them but I have plenty of LPP at the moment and only use them for The 45 ACP and 45 Colt. In turn I load 5 or 6 handgun cartridges with SPP.

In reality I'm getting lower than I like for both types so I hope prices come down within the next year or so.

In 308 lapua calls their brass palma, the rest like alphas and Peterson just call it small primer. Be careful with a standard decaping die if you get small primer brass, the firing hole is also smaller.

All of this is true. I got a Redding universal decapping die, which has a pin small enough to accommodate everything

Only know about 45 acp. I find mine when priming. I don’t gripe about having to put the spp cases in a separate container. It’s a fact of life.
But in times like these, depending on your inventory, it’s great to have the primer option!

You're maybe the first guy I've seen who likes having a mix. It's about the only way I accidentally crush a primer.

I put my blazer in a bag just in case I get desperate so I won't call it bad or anything, but I do find it inconvenient to have to sort pistol by headstamp
