I was shopping online for pistols and there are some that are California Legal and some are not. What does that mean exactly? More taxes have to be paid on it or something? :ROTFL:

In order for a CA FFL dealer to transfer a handgun to a non-exempt CA resident, that handgun needs to be on the CA DOJ approved list.

LEOs are exempt from the approved list.
C&R handguns are exempt from the approved list.
Single-action revolvers with minimum 3" barrel & 5 round capacity are exempt from the approved list.
Single-shot pistols with minimum 6" barrel & 10.5" OAL are exempt from the approved list.
Private party transfers between CA residents are exempt from the approved list.
Out-of-state intra-familial gifts are exempt from the approved list.

The CA DOJ approved list, is a de-facto ban and is being challenged in court (Pena v Cid). There is a good chance that it will be struck down as being unconsititutional.

If you think the CA DOJ approved list is stupid, then find a member of SASS and tell them. Because they sold out CA gun owners by supporting it, once they got an exemption for single-action revolvers. :cuss:
