Just received this alert from the ISRA:

Call Your Senators Now. Tell Them to Vote NO
on These Amendments

NSSF has learned that anti-gun U.S. Senators are expected to bring up a vote at ANY MINUTE this afternoon on the previously defeated Manchin-Toomey "universal background check" amendment as well as an amendment expanding the prohibited persons list to anyone unknowingly placed on a secret, error-prone government list, the so called "terrorist watch list."

Call your senators at 202-224-3121 as soon as you can and urge them to vote NO on both amendments.

I called both my senators offices and they confirmed they "are voting on several gun control bills today". I got a real person on the second ring.

Yes, I called both of my Senators as well. Unfortunately they are both among the first to "sign on" to this kind of silliness. I let them know that we are watching this one very closely at home.

Two gun control amendments shut down:

Manchin UBC Amendment goes down 48-50

Feinstein Amendment to add Terrorist Watchlist to NICS goes down 45-54

Sen. Grassley offered an NRA backed pro-gun substitution amendment that went 53-46 but not enough for cloture and was defeated.

Kirk, Illinois voted in favor. The only Republican.

Heitkamp, South Dakota voted against. The only Democrat.

This is about the ability for anonymous, unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats and officers, to deny constitutional human right numero dos, by way of personal or institutional whim, with no realistic process for dispute or appeal, governed by secret rules, overseen by secret courts.

If charged (probably more like 'arrested' in practice) you can be put on the list, if charges are dismissed --no matter how baseless-- you stay on the list. And everyone who knows you can be added to the list simply for knowing you. And everyone with the same or similar name to you or them.

Can we please stop denying the Cultural Revolution we are witnessing? They mean to rule us or destroy us.

But until that time, the likely outcome of this bill's passage would likely be the striking down of the entire Watch List scheme (probably by yet another 9-0 verdict, since opining against the majority would look really bad on something like this)
