can a 38 super be converted to 9mm

Yes.
Barsto, Storm Lake, Kart, probably others.
If it is a true Colt Commander or close copy.
Some of the other makes of sub-5" guns have their own contour and might be harder to find.

You'll need new mags or mag spacers, but it should be an easy swap. Good advice on the barrels, BTW.

If you handload you can load the 9MM long and the super magazines MAY work. Otherwise it's just barrel and mags, the super recoil spring should work for all but the lightest 9MM loads.
