There are a few custom shops that will chop the grip off of a larger gun. Basically reverse of what you are talking about. EX: they will cut down a 17 to the grip dimensions of a 19.

I just tried it...

...the answer is, ABSOLUTELY NOT.

OK, so I swapped uppers on my G35 and G23(same guns, different caliber) and checked - you will have about a 1/4" gap between the dustcover and the end of the recoil spring tunnel in the slide. Then I racked the slide to check function...the slide came back once, and then LOCKED UP SOLID about 1/8" out of battery. Hope you're happy...:cuss:

I was, however, able to get the long-slide off of the compact frame, by pinching the slide back, depressing the takedown levers, pushing the slide forward into battery, and then pulling the trigger to release the striker. So, no harm, no foul. ;)

The only way you could make this work is, as kenpocop mentioned, to take a G34 and cut the grip down to fit G19 mags. I've seen pictures where Marty Hayes of the Firearms Academy of Seattle did this to a G24 to get the combo of a short butt and long sight radius - since the guy is over 6' tall, and carried the gun off-duty IWB, it worked out pretty well for him.
