Scored a small tin of ammo at a great price (about what it sold for originally).
Looks like 18 boxes of 25 rounds, but I have not unpacked the tin to verify that.

Anyway, the reason I want to know is will I be able to reload it? If it's boxer, I'll take it to the range where I won't lose very many. If it's Berdan, it goes plinking in the woods.

My Hebrew is not any good but from what I can pick out, this looks to be 9MM but then I could be totally wrong... My guess is made in 1974. If so, it would be noncorrosive Boxer primed and as a general rule, loaded hot.

A photo or two including a shot of the head stamp would be very helpful.

If all else fails, look around for a Rabbi who can read modern Hebrew.

P.S. your guestamation of 18 packs of 25 don't match. That would be 450 rounds total. The paperwork list a 500 count.

Sorry, I forgot to mention it is 9mm.

Wasn't sure if that was Hebrew, but I suspect it is.

I'm wondering if it is some the IMI mil-surp that came into the country ~15yrs back.

Also, there is definitely 18 packs, and 25 in the one I opened.

It looks like Israeli 9mm surplus in a 1970s vintage. Look at a headstamp for T Z and a year. I have little to no experience with the stuff but seem to remember it pouring into the US during the early to mid 90s.

Something to consider depending on what you plan to shoot this stuff in is that if it is the ammunition I think it might be it was designed and loaded for use in the Uzi sub machine gun. Lending it to being pretty hot loads. Should that be the case it will shoot in some handguns but is hell on others as I recall. Just a thought on my part and not gospel.

Thank you sir. That does ring some bells, and I will keep that in mind. I remember passing on the IMI in favor of some surplus Egyptian (mistake) and surplus Aguila (good stuff) and also S&B (very good stuff back then).

BTW, figured out the mystery of the 2 missing boxes. Someone had removed them and repacked the tin to make it look full. Since the tin was opened when I got it, that's not too hard to figure out.

No matter. I still paid well under 10 cents a round.

Be careful what you shoot that SMG ammo in. Israeli SMG ammo is loaded to very high pressure well beyond SAAMI or even +P+ LEO and while it works great in an open bolt UZI it has been known to damage handguns severely. Probably why only 2 boxes where used.

Thanks for the heads up.

So perfect for a Glock? :what:
I don't have a 9mm Glock, so that won't happen anyway.

Now that you mention it, I recall something about a friend and a broken extractor in one of his 9mm's. I wonder if was the same type of ammo. I vaguely recall him getting into some IMI, but that was many moons ago, and I don't recall him connecting the two.
