I bought this the other day because it was on sale in the store, and I like the look and feel of it, as well as really liking the sheath, but I bought it "sight unseen" in the sense of no research beforehand - just an impulse purchase. I really like it - it's already one of my 3 favorite fixed blades. But are they supposed to be good, bad, or in between?:

The one I got is the tanto point with the tan colored scales & sheath. It's a nice size and balance for an all-purpose knife....has the serrations on the back, so that it doesn't interfere with easy sharpening of the main blade. It uses 154 CM steel with a black coating, and G10 scales. I got it for $99 plus tax.

It looks like a decent design. A tanto tip that can really penetrate, saw back that can cut webbing. G10 scales, decent steel, full tang, kydex sheath etc.

Nice "user" knife, not anything that will intrinsically go up in value. If you really like it, go ahead and use it.

Looks like a decent knife, and it is (at 4.5") a reasonable blade length.

go to cdnninvestments.com and click on the knives icon. They have some benchmade/blackwater knives on sale.

Thanks guys! Hmm, it guess it *does* look like a miniature 140 Nimravus - didn't notice that, even though I have one. I suppose that perhaps subconsciously I was drawn to this knife because I like the Nimravus - dunno. :) 'Cept my Nimravus is a drop point.

Thanks for heads up about cdnn having them... but actually I can't find them:

It oughta be a good knife, it's a Benchmade Nimravus made for Blackwater.

I'm glad you said that. All I could think was, "man that looks like my Nimravus."

If that is the case, great knife. I've beat the hell out of mine and used it in ways that knives are not meant to be used. The black blade coating is nearly gone now, but it still stays in the car and gets used often.

Sorry "Premium sauces", they had them about a month ago. They must have sold out.
