Can carry in Kansas again

Effective today, July 1, 2009, non-resident permit holders of recognized states can carry legally in Kansas.

For about a two week period in 2007, non-resident Florida permit holders could carry in Kansas, but the then new AG (who later left office in disgrace) imposed restrictions that were reversed today.

Yippie! At least I can carry in the great state of Kansas. I have a License to carry in my socialist home state of NY but due to "reasonable" local restrictions, "right to carry" is pretty much a cruel joke.

I have it on good authority (from an Kansas Assistant AG who served both AGs) that former AG Kline meant for non-resident permits held by Florida (and other) licensees to be invalid, but his (Kline's) pending exit caused the temporary (short-term) oversight.

Coincidentally, I was in Kansas when recognition was initially extended to Florida, and now have just returned from Kansas again when recognition was restored for non-Florida licensees. It looks like Kansas will definitely move up the "visitation" ladder for this happy traveler!

I'm often in the area south of KCMO right around State Line, a road where north bound traffic is in MO and south bound is in KS.

One risks arrest getting a Starbucks or BBQ on the Kansas side of the street. Like this legal thing better.
