Evening folks - I'm going on a camping trip this weekend in MD, and was wondering if I'm within the confines of the law bringing a Remington 870 with me. I generally tend to bring a firearm if legal, but I haven't been able to get an answer with regard to out-of-state visitors bringing long guns with them to MD. Handguns are apparently verboten without attending some formal shooting event, as I understand the law. I will likely not be doing any recreational shooting, just bringing it for general SD.

Does anyone know if this is legal? Thanks in advance.

Having a shotgun in Maryland is nbo big deal, like was said, keep it cased and unleaded.

But be warned; most all state parks and and county parks have a no firearms rule. If you're camping in a state park, and something happens that you have to uncase the shotgun, you may end up in some vry deep poop.

Like many others I have brought a shotgun into Maryland for many years to go goose hunting on the Eastern Shore.

As long as it's in a case it's fine .. and unlike the other anti-gun states (NJ, NY) Maryland law enforcement seem to be well aware about firearm laws and transportation .. I've never heard of anyone having trouble bringing guns into maryland (even handguns )
