I have a Yugo 24/47 that qualifies for C&R. I'm not sure how to verify the buyer other than to review his C&R cert and copy of his drivers license. Any suggestions as the ATF website only validates FFL's and not C&R's.

Also, I know that here in NJ I can't get a rifle shiped to my house, even if I have a C&R, as it's state law. How do I know if OH has a similar law? Should I call the OH state police, or a local ATF agent in OH? Does all of this responsibility fall on the buyer as a C&R?

I just want to do whats right and legal.

Assume that I'm not a license holder. I'm just a guy who intended to send his rifle to an FFL, but the buyer wants to use his C&R. I wish he had told me before he bid, but...

Anyway I know how to ID an FFL, but not how to follow the laws when dealing with a C&R.

If the buyers C&R is valid, and his state drivers license matches up to the C&R, you are GTG. He is responsible for any local laws concerning the legality of the fire arm. Ohio has some wacky laws with most of the larger cities adding to the mess. The ATF state law and ordinance book has thirty pages for Ohio, my state has three.:D

Yes. The purpose of the C&R is to allow the holder to acquire qualified firearms across state lines. It's perfectly legal for you to ship a C&R rifle to a license holder in another state even if you do not have any sort of FFL.

+1

As a C&R license holder, I've had individuals from out of state ship me their C&R rifles via the mail. Its never been a problem, I'd make sure you have a copy of his C&R license before you ship.
