Can someone give me clear head on 'bear spray' in Canada

I was told that it's meant as a animal deterrent and should never be used on human. However, was told that use of it against human for self defence mitigated in the court, but some were saying plain not.

Self defense pepper spray is not legal in Canada.

BEAR spray is legal, but only if used against 4 legged critters.
Using bear spray on a person in Canada will most likely get you put in jail.

If traveling into Canada, you should show them the spray at the border and ask if it is legal or not. They have funny laws up there and you should not take a chance at having contraband on you or in your vehicle.
