From Hornady's 8th Edition manual in the M1 Garand section:
    150 fmj #3037--overall length 3.185"---Hornady case---Win LR primer
    --Varget powder---start 42.3-2400fps----44.2-2500fps----max 46.2-2600fps

Go to the Hodgdon web site, if you do a lookup for 30-06 there are loads for what you are looking for.

RG1 has the right answer, and keep your velocities below 2700 fps, 2600 fps is a better number.

If you are going to be shooting Hornady bullets, getting their manual would be a great help to you

Well I have the loadmaster 3006, which I kind of forgot about when I first posted. Thst said 3006 recipes using Varget are a bit sparse and the loadmaster book is from 2005 and likely the last edition of the Hornady Manual.

Understand that the above load data is EXTREMELY conservative. USGI M72 Match ammo with a 174gr FMJBT bullet is moving at over 50fps faster than the above "max" load. Personally, I would use a load consisting of 48.0gr of Varget with the above bullet. Just MHO.
