Can someone tell me if these Glock mag springs are OEM?

I just purchased 2 15rd G22 mags and I couldn't fit 15 rounds in them. Even 14 rounds was a pain, but 15 seemed nigh impossible. After reading up on how to get the baseplates off :banghead: I pulled them apart and noticed that the mag springs are quite a bit longer than my other G22 mags'.

Another recent gen mag of mine on the left for comparison... I have no trouble loading either of these with 15 rds. Note that the springs are about the same length.

I thought perhaps someone put .45 springs in my new ones, so I took one of my 13 rd G21 mags apart. .45 on the left, new .40 on the right. The springs are different but note the length is similar.

Soo.... did glock go to a longer mag spring on a certain run? Perhaps for "law enforcement/govt only"? Or did the PO install longer wolff springs or something?

After I reassembled these I was juuuuuust able to fit 15 rds in, but it took a bit of swearing. I pretty much had to stand on it to get it done.

I noticed that, using the mag loader, the round in the mag already points upward at a more extreme angle (the rear of the cartridge is pressed down into the mag, but the nose remains pointed upward more than when using the other mags). Getting that last round in was a bear.

Do you think this is a problem? Or should I just leave them fully loaded for a while and see if that helps?

I'm just curious why the change to the longer spring if indeed that was a glock change.

thanks

They did change some but I thought they were just on the 19/23/32 mags. The old 19/23/32 mags used the same springs as the 26/27/33 mags. With a +2, the mini Glock mags work perfect, with a +2 on the mid size mags I put a large mag spring in. They may have changed the mid and large mag springs by adding 1 coil. I know that's the difference between one, the other or both. I have 4th gen. G22 mags and have no problem getting 15 in. I've noticed the newer mags are a pain to get the base plates off though and I don't feel like cussing right now. You can get full capacity in there. Try hard and let them sit for a while.

BTW, I always download the mag in my Glock by one rd. but keep the spares fully loaded. A Glock with one in the pipe or maybe even without one in the pipe further compresses the springs and my brass from the first two rds. seem to show it by drag marks.
