So ive been wanting w nice side by side shotgun and honestly. There are almost none in my state for sale lol. I called evEry single store 2-3 hours from me. ONLY 4 shops have side by sides. All used of course.

2 of the shops are 2 hours away and one of those has a kinda lower end brand. The other is a 311A i forgot the name. Some 1920s shotgun i think.

Cabelas has a el cheapo made in brazil new side by side. Thats ugly and put together poorly. I dont really want new anyway unless its a nice one.

The shop thats 30 min from me, has s very nice German Made Gustov genschow side by side shotgun. 16ga. I forgot to check for markings if it was a 70mm or 63mm. Aka 2 1/2 or 2 3/4.

But based on old news papers clippings on gustov genschow i have found the shotgun. It was a higher end model with engravings all over the metal. Even the screws. The lever to release the barrels is tight. Not hanging to the left.. it stays center. The barrel drop and going up is pretty tight actually.

The barrels inside seem ok. 99% shiny. But in the center of both i see debris. I asked th3 shop to clean the barrels inside maybe it was dirt or powder debris. But most likely its a ring of pitting rust. But it doesnt seem bad just a ring and it looks surface. With a smooth bore i dont think thats too much of an issue.

The main problen is this. Right when i almost bought it. I saw the wood stock is cracked. Right on the neck/narrowist part of the stick starting where the safety is.

It runs down the side to the rough grip texture and then stops half way down. If i flex the wood gently. It flexs out. I asked if they would go down on price but its on consignment so they cant.

Its a 600$ gun, for 600$ and a cracked stock i just decided to not buy it. I did ask if i could call the owner and see if hed negotiate but this is one of those gun shops with older guys who are nasty jerks.

The other issue i had was the old guy behind thr counter besides being a jerk. Was also trying to tell me the gun is shootable and safe. When i saw the crack he just went quiet. So i dont like being lied too. I wouldnt shoot that gun lol.

Sorry for thr long lost but ya. Honestly after digging online for 2 days i have not seen a german shotgun like this. There are a bunch but nothing with these engravings. And it isnt a custom gun due to the news paper clipping matching.

It just seems very rare based on my findings anyway. I doubt ill ever come across one like it again. I am going to go back to the store todsy to take more pictures and look at the stampings on it better to try to get a year and also see if its 2 1/2 or 2 3/4.

The company Gustov Genschow is Geco btw. And they stopped making shotguns in the 50s i think. So this could be a ww2 or pre war shotgun if im lucky.

Here are pics of the stock. Is this repairable ? Using maybe a kind of superglue of some sort ? Was thinking of maybe drilling where thr crack stops to keel it from spreading. Then repair the crack myself. Im good with tools and my hands im a antique car restorer.. but ive just never messed with wood like this before.

Thoughts ? Pass or grab it ? They wont budge on 600$. I havent been able to sleep all night. Usually when that happens it means i have to grab it or ill regret it if i dont. Lol but i just want your opinions if this is a lost cause or if that can be fixed
