Can u build ur own machine gun?

I know that the ATF permits you to build weapons at home but what about full autos? If you were to machine all the parts yourself would it be legal if there were no state/local laws not permitting it? You wouldn't have to worry about register because weapons built at home don't need to be registered or have serials numbers. Anyone know if this is legal or not? Is this included in the 86 Ban? Thanks

You cannot legally build one for yourself. May 19 1986 was the day that opportunity ended.

You can build guns at home but they have to be legal. In the case of SBS, SBR and silencers you have to complete a form 1 and have it approved first (they will also have ser# at that point).
