I've never seen any. Can you buy Hydra-shok bullets? I carry 230gr Hyra-shoks in my Kimber so i'd like to be able to shoot a thousand or so through it to make sure it feeds them reliably but obviously at $25 for a box of 20 that isnt really doable.

IMO if you are shooting it to make sure it shoots them reliably, you need to do it with the same factory ammo you are carrying. Just because it shoots reloads with that bullet well, doesn't mean it will shoot the factory load well.

That said, when buying the factory rounds the 20 round boxes are a rip off. Check out AmmunitionToGo.com and PoliceHQ.com for the 50 round LE boxes. Often they are similar in price to the 20 round boxes at the gun shop.

I wouldn't use a factory round as a test for fdeeding or any other reson. When done properly, a reload is about 99% more reliable than anything in a factory box can ever be.
I buy the bullets I want, load them, and have never had a single problem with any pistol eating them relaibly. In fact, it was for this very reason I even decided to reload. I was sick and tired of not knowing how my pistol was going to feed a factory, which is a one size fits all round. Mis-fires too, are a thing of the past since I started reloading 30+ yrs. ago.

I agree 100%

Hey thanks a lot man! I can get 50 round boxes of Hydrashoks for $30, damn. Is that policehq website good?
Yep, I love that place. It's a great site. I'm sure if you post in the regular or handgun forums you will get a ton of positive reviews on it. I've ordered Federal HST's from them in the past, and have no complaints on the site or the round. I ordered a fairly small quantity of 3 boxes to offset the shipping cost some, and it only cost me right over $30 per box for 50 rounds. Obviously the more you order the cheaper it gets to a certain degree as it offsets the shipping.

They sell the Federal rounds, and the Speer rounds to the general public, but for some reason they will only sell the Winchester Ranger rounds to LE. Or at least this is how it used to be. If you want those, Ammunition To Go sells those to anyone, as well as the other two brands when they have them.

I have used factory HydraShok JHP "loaded ammunition" for SD/HD but have migrated to Golden Saber/Gold Dot over the years as bulk bullets are available for reloading comparable recoil/POA/POI practice loads to the same factory JHP I use for SD/HD.

HydraShok is more truncated cone nose design as Golden Saber is more rounded nose design (see picture below and compare to Speer/CCI round nose and imagine the tip cut off) and Golden Saber JHP in 40S&W/45ACP have fed/chambered well for my pistols. They are available $217/1000 ($30/100) - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/16...-451-diameter-230-grain-jacketed-hollow-point

Ooops, I meant "factory" HydraShok JHP loaded ammunition, not component bullets for reloading (I corrected my previous post).
