Can you use a Lee 1000 as a "single stage" to start?

I can't seem to find this info and I'm trying to avoid making a mess right off the bat. I'm about to start reloading 45acp on my new Pro 1000. I want to start off loading them "one at a time". That is to say I want to insert one piece of brass and run it all the way around before I insert one more piece of brass. I just want to get really familiar with whats going on in there before I open er up.

Will it dump powder on my carrier plate while the brass is at the other stages? I know the Dillon models won't dump powder unless brass is present but I can't seem to find that info about the Lee...

Thanks everyone.

the pro 1000 won't dump powder unless there is a case, nor will it let up a primer. it will auto index though

but yea you can run 1 at a time through. if you don't want it to index, pull out the indexing rod, it just slides out. then you can turn the shell plate by hand if you think you might be more comfortable like that.

I used mine for years as a single stage. I prefered to dump my powder by hand. Slower but never had a KABOOM and they were really accurate.

Cool, thanks for the help guys.

I will let it index on its own, I just want to get super familiar with the stages and what goes on before I start flying along.
