will be going to Toronto, Canada and Montreal, Canada the week of March 11-19, 2006..any worthwhile attractions to visit while i'm there in these two cities that involve firearms, weapons and their use of throughtout Canada's history...is appreciated..this will be my first time visiting Canada...any museums, factrories or shops that display the hobby is of interest..i'll be staying in Toronto at the Days Inn hotel and conference centre in downtown Toronto, 30 Carlton street..thanks for your help, Y'all...:D

Was in Montreal, and the old part of town is pretty cool. Not religious myself, but impressed by big old churches and stuff anyway. For guns, you should find plenty of cannons around. Just take a bus tour of a local fort.

When in Quebec enjoy the maple syrup, having any restaurant deliver food and alcohol to you by a mere telephone call, and if you are a smoker you will be at home:)

A quick purusal led me to choose which store I'd go to if I was you - http://www.ctvsp.com/intro.html

Eh da poutine does good for body no?

hahahah you will be right beside 'Hooker Harveys" on Carleton st. (i used to live in that area)
If you have time the hockey hall of fame is good to go to.
there is not much gun related in Toronto (that I know of)

Montreal is a great city with really hot chicks, if you are downtown and like the nitelife make sure you check out the peel pub, and for dinner hit the Bar b barn for great ribs and chicken.

To bad you are not visiting Ottawa as our war museum is newly opened (moved to a bigger brand new facility) and is really good.

sorry there is not much gun related in either cities. - that I know of.
have a good trip.

Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto has a nice sword collection. Lots of good chinese restaurants there .High percentage of attractive women. Both Toronto and Montreal are very cosmopolitan....They're having more gun violence in toronto which they are blaming on the USA !!

For anything gun related in Canada.....

if you listen to Canadian politicians, all you have to do is stand on a street corner to take in the gun action......chris3

I usually try to hit Toronto at least twice a year for vacationing. Every time I go there, my party hits The Keg for steaks on Church St. and The Coffee Mill for wienerschnitzel on Yorkville Ave. The CN tower is always interesting.

As for Montreal, only been there a handful of times and always seem to end up in the old section.

Toronto Police HQ is at College St and Bay St, I think. It's downtown anyway, near Yonge St, which is the main north-south street in town, dividing the whole city into east and west, with a subway running underneath. Police HQ may have some cops and robbers guns and other weapons on display under glass (used to anyway).

Casa Loma, a 1915 mansion-medieval-style castle open to the public (may be admission charge) somewhat north and west of downtown, has (or had -it's been awhile since I was there) a display room upstairs with Canadian Army weapons. I remember a WW1 machine gun and a modern AR-15 style rifle, all under glass.

Black Creek Pioneer Village on the northern edge of the city at Steeles Ave and Jane St (that's a mile or two north of the infamous Jane-Finch gangsta neighborhood which is not reccommended after dark and even in daylight watch your six) is a recreation of a nineteenth-century village which is pretty nifty IMO. They used to have an old-fashioned gunshop with black powder pieces on display, but sadly, it disappeared some years ago. I guess the forces of Political Correctness dictated its removal 'for the children', and never mind historical accuracy. Still there may be the odd musket above the mantle in some of the old homes.

ParaOrdnance makes pistols in the north-east part of town (Scarborough). I've never heard of them doing factory tours. But maybe try contacting them at www.paraord.com

And there are a few stores that sell firearms -see your hotel's phonebook yellow pages. One example is Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World (phone 905 761 4000) which is in a mall north west of the city. This place has really great decor -a bush plane wired from the ceiling over an indoor waterfall, stuffed moose, bear, etc. and an indoor archery range or paintball place, if I recall correctly -I didn't take the time the day I went. Another store is LeBarons outfitters at Highway 7 and Woodbine Ave; they have guns and a great knife display -I bought my Spyderco folder there.

I hope you have a good stay in Canada.

If Toranto is where I'm thinking it is, just north of it is the Canadian Heritage Warplane Museum outside of Hamilton. Lots of neat old planes there.
