There is a very nice looking SFX locally, and the price is great, but I WONDER if it is one of those early oversprung versions which are jamomatics? Any way to tell until its too late, and is there an easy fix?

I ask because "The Humble Marksman" made it seem in his video that its not a simple recoil spring swap - he made it seem that several springs had to be changed to get them right and it was a PITA.

Really? I cannot believe its that hard. Someone really know the SFX? Thanks.

Between my friend and I we have 5 SFX models, with at least 150k rounds through them. Only one thing causes stove pipes, and it's limp wristing. Other than that, no other failures. The slides don't come back hard on them, which is alot of what makes them so smooth, with faster follow up shots. A couple months ago on a 110 degree day, with an empty stomach, I could tell my shooting was off somehow. I got 3 stove pipes in a row. My instructor showed up and I told him that's never happened in 10k rounds through the gun. He told me I was limp wristing. I didn't believe him, so he told me to shoot with one hand. 4 one-handed mags later, no stove pipes. I was limp wristing because I was hot, hungry and hungover. Hasn't happened again 4k rounds later. Until today when my wife shot for her first time ever, she was shooting my Rival. She started stove piping, then my instructor showed up again, guess what he said. He corrected her grip and arms, 400 rds later it didn't happen again.

So I showed my instructor (The friend I mentioned who has well over 100k rounds through his SFXs) my answer in this thread (Above), he texted me this, hope it helps:

"Good answer. One of the main issues with Caniks is shooters not gripping correctly and not giving the gun enough forward resistance. Plus they're made for 124gr NATO. After they're broken in, they'll shoot virtually any ammo. I've run crap ammo to show people it's not the gun. In very rare instances, a lighter recoil spring is needed. "

I had a few FTEs with my SFX before it had 100 rounds through it. Once the recoil spring got some use it became totally reliable. Same with my sub-compact, and Canik actually sent me a low power recoil spring assembly for free. My Rival has been 100% reliable from day 1.

Bought my SFX new first 100 rds had many FTFs but being a new pistol and using Wolf steel cased ammo I put enough rounds thru it all the kinks seem to have worked themselves out. Been looking for NATO specs ammo locally but no one stocks it.
