Hi I recently got one of the new canik tp9sf pistols. I'm not a fan of three dot sights that are on the gun. My personal favorite sight set up is all black rear with a fiber optic front. Supposedly this gun has a glock 43 rear sight cut and a smith and wesson front sight cut. I'm wondering if any of you forum members have changed sights on one of these guns. I'm trying to avoid being the guinea pig. I already did this recently with a walther ppx which eventually turned out great.

Well you sir are in luck. I actually just did this with my tp9sf, exactly. Your right the front is cut for S&W, the rear is cut for any of the 9mm glocks, not just the 43. The setup I put on mine was as follow's:

Front - HIVIZ LiteWave fiber optic yellow(also in red) sku# SW2014. Bought on Amazon for like $35 I think.

Rear - Heinie SlantPro Ledge sku#3155RL. This model has a wider rear notch for faster acquisition, but they have a standard cut and a narrower cut for more precision. I paid $62 directly from Heinie but you could probably find them cheaper somewhere else.

Anyway's, not hard at all assuming you either already have a sight tool or a good punch set and the setup works great. YMMV

(And btw, exercise caution using a punch set on fiber optic's, can go bad pretty quick:cuss:)

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go with dawson sights. Also did the cerokote finish hold up when you swapped the sights?

I just put a set of Wilson Tactical Vickers sights on mine. Black rear with U-notch and red fiber optic front.
As far as the Ceracote goes, Unless you have a sight pusher it can get messed up really easily. I managed to mess mine up bad enough that I ended up sending it in to have a new black titanium coating applied.

So did you go with a recommended .230" high front sight and did it shoot to point of aim?

Tell us what you like and don't like about the Canik TP9 SF . I was about to get one last month but I held back because spare parts were not available .

On my Canik overall I really like the gun. I have three things I wish were a little different. The first is three dot sights which I mentioned earlier. My eyesight isn't great but the sights can be changed. The next issue for me is the slide release lever . I shoot thumbs forward so I tend to ride the lever with my right thumb. I had to change my grip slightly. My last issue is with the trigger. It has a glock style trigger safety. When I first shot the gun I was pushing on the trigger off to the side a little so I wasn't releasing the trigger safety correctly. Other triggers with these safeties seem to be a little more forgiving. It's not a problem now. Overall it's a good gun for the money.

Which .230 front sights did you go with, vikers doesent have a s&w front at .230, dawson doesent either?

Corton93 I'm glad I found this tread thanks for the info on the proper size for the canik TP9Sf front sight. The high-vis are nice for the price but patients is very much needed.I did my Tristar s120 the other day and today the sf lots of sanding was required on both, it was no 5 min. job like on some of the y- tube threads first of all I have no sight pusher, so brass and nylon punches are a must

Also a vise is important securing the receiver in the vise is much better that trying to use some kind of a block.I guess a c- clamp might work also. I'm not really sure but the high-vis may be made out of an aluminium did not try a magnet to see, one little slip with the punch could ruin the sight. If I had attempted this indever in my younger days I probably would have screwed it all up to much in a hurry back then,

they were showcased at last years shot and have been in centuries catalog since last year, to me that constitutes as "out" but there is no availability anywhere that doesn't give me the heebee jeebees about giving my credit card info to.

I emailed century arms actual website. They told me the gun is not released to the public, and they don't have an ETA.

I bought a couple of the mecgar 20 rounders from buds guns, they've been solid for me.

So I just bought a new tp9sf and it came with the Wilson combat all black rears which I was not a huge fan of. I bought a stock Glock sight for a 17/19 and pretty much every other Glock under the sun. The sight fit but I was wider than the slide. I then ordered a stock Glock sight for a 42/43 (both sights are like $6 on eBay) and that fit perfectly. It's the exact width of the slide too. My only issue is it is shooting a bit low; about 2" with the front sight perfectly lined up. Any thoughts? The thing is still accurate as can be but just 2" low with the front door right in the box. If it line it up with the top of the box it's right on the money.
Also, I had no issue getting the rear sight off with a sight pusher tool. I have the desert tan cerakote and there was no damage whatsoever. If people are having issues I would certainly recommend using one.
