Can't find Colt 1911s for sale.

Lightsped,

You need to re-check gunbroker as I have seen a few auctions on there in the past couple of days for exactly what you are looking.

A good price would be $ 600-$625 IMHO.

Nothing local, I assume?

Not meant as a slight against Kimber or anything like that, but around these parts, I can only think of one dealer that isn't a Kimber Master Dealer that doesn't try to stock a few Colts. The Kimber shops tend to be of the 'Colt only sells to the Government' mentality.

Good luck though... it does seem that the powers that be want to make it difficult for us Colt fans.

Shops around here don't carry/won't carry Colt. They stock tons of Kimbers and some Springfields, but no Colts. Evidently Colt went out of business in the minds of these guys.

Colts are very scarce right now.....I think a lot of their production capacity is tied up for the military.

Right now, all I have is one 1911 repro and one XSE...

Colts are very scarce right now.....

shop i frequent in houston has plenty of them, and yes i DO mean NIB, NRM examples. granted there are not as many colts as say Springfields, but right now, colt doesn't have as big of a market share as SA. so that's explained.

this goes around about once a month, somebody asking "hey where all the new colts at??!!??". I guess the answer would have to be, "not where you live apearently, but some of us are still seeing them, and at what seem to be rather variable prices" (somplaces a colt isn't much more than a Springfield, where i've seen them, the price jump is about 50% of the cost of the comparable SA).

keep looking you'll find em

A Stainless 1991 NRM that I saw about a month ago in SLC (That's Salt Lake City, for you non-Utah folks) was going for a little over $500, if I remember correctly.

Where? :scrutiny: Not gonna tell, because on my birthday I'm going to go pick that baby up. :D

That's a good price for a stainless NRM 1991A1. Colt was having labor problems lately and their production has been hampered. Less made, less available.

I'd like to get another one myself.

Colt is churning out M4s like they're going out of style IIRC. So they don't necessarily have the time to make consumer guns like their 1911s.

I just did a search for "rollmark" under semi autos on Gunbroker and 6 came up right away. More than the average of the past few months. Should be pretty easy to find one, I couldn't imagine not being able to get one.

Colt has been plagued with labor problems for years. It seems that every time Colt tries to get its act together, labor disputes arise. Wonder if it is a grand conspiricy to put Colt out of business? Things that make you go "hmmmmm..."

Over the couurse of the last month, it would seem that every distributor sold out their stock of NRM 1991s. Since nothing is coming from Colt (due to the strike?), the only 1991's that I can find are either already on dealer shelves or on the used market.

I had trouble getting a NRL Colt 1991 a while back too. So I ended up buying a SW1911 that was in stock. Of course the dealer probably just wanted to get rid of the S&W but I am very happy with it so I can't complain. It was just a bit more than I was planning on spending at first. But it was so pretty and felt so good in my hand... I couldn't resist. :D

Colt Drought

I had a similar experience to Undertoad: none of the local dealers had any in stock and TWO of these "honest" folks told me "Colt doesn't sell to civilians anymore." After churning through the few Colts available on Gunbroker, I bought a Springfield Loaded 'cause it just caught my eye(all the extras and I'm a Rob Leatham fan). I spent about $100.00 more than the NRM would have cost, but that included shipping and (shhhhh:rolleyes: )no sales tax 'cause I bought from an out of state dealer. Colt just seems to make it hard to be a loyal customer these days.

Mike's Guns in Richardson, Texas has a NIB 1991 A1 for $519.00 but I do not know if it is roll marked. Mike is a nice man and did a hitch in Vietnam in the 'Corps. A 1911 saved his life twice I know of.

Screw Colt.

Except for a good USED Python, I haven't seen a Colt pistol in 20 years that I would keep in my gunsafe.

Bite the bullet, save up and buy an STI. Or a Kimber. Even, God Forbid, a freakin' Springfield.

You get what you pay for, unless you buy a Colt.

In the Atlanta area, contact Bernie's Sport Center in Lilburn, GA . 770-381-9897. He carries Colts. Good luck...Illini

I wonder what he doesn't like--the superior internals, the classic lines, or the fact that they run like tops?

Check out a New-Rollmark Colt sometime. If you still want your molded, glued 1911s instead, there are plenty.

I gave $500 for my blued NRM 1991A1. had the nice looking reddish McCormick grips but one had a bit of a gouge in it. It was brand new and priced at $550 but when I pointed out the mark on the grips, he dropped the price down to $500. I think that's about the dealer cost on them.

There were no marks on the metal at all so I nabbed it and just swapped the grips for some Ahrends and put in a shorter STI trigger (not pictured)... It would be one of the last 1911s I'd want to sell from my collection. Beautiful gun that has run 100% since the first couple times out and then it only bobbled on the 200 Gr +P Gold Dots. Ball and 230 Gr Golden Sabers were 100%. I think the NRM Colts are some of the most overlooked guns out there right now.
