For the longest time, i would not buy a Colt because of the quality issues. Recently our club has decided to begin some pistol competition. After doing some research on another web site, you know the one, i decided to take an expensive gamble. I've owned everything but a Dancing Poney. Well, there i was at the Birmingham funshow and this stainless NRM Government 1991A1 was sitting there under the glass looking very lonely. I guess it had heard all the negative talk also. Well anyway, i asked to see her and checked her chasis. I don't know if you have ever had the feeling like this but it said i needed to take it home and it would take good care of me. It did not lie! It has proved very pleasing, reliable and after over 1.5 k rounds it still refuses to hiccup. I read this article last Thursday and remembered that when i picked some reloading supplies i saw a stainless Commander. I had been trying to convince myself for six months that i didn't need both. Free firearm forums are expensive but very informative and entertaining. I called my Chief Financial Office on her cell and she read my mind. She said "yes" so fast i had to make sure i heard correctly, that i asked her to re-confim. The Government has a now companion and i have a new web site. Thanks, for all.... BTW, that other web site now has six pages of mostly negative discussion on Colt and i had to vent. Loy M

Roll Mark versus No Roll Mark

I purchased my "Colt 1991A1 Stainless" 5 inch (Finish appears to be lightly sand blasted) NIB back in 1996 at Ral Sporting in Anchorage (Sorry Ken) for $469. What do the "New Rollmark" versions have that the first Colt 1991A1's do not? :what:

Cratz2, you got a good deal on your NRM. I just sold mine with about 200 rounds thru it for $600! It performed flawlessly, but I picked up a WW! Commemorative shooter that I liked better. I don't keep many guns on hand unless I shoot them frequently.

I noticed on GunsAmerica a couple of the 1967, 68, built commemoratives going for as little as $775. If they are all like mine they make darn good shooters and are nice to look at.

I got my stainless 1991 NRM used for $575 during the Fall of last year. Add $75 for an arched MSH, Grieder short trigger, and Cylinder & Slide sear (replacing one of the few MIM parts on a Colt) and you have the gun pictured below. I think Colt increased prices about 15% at the beginning of the year. When I see dealers advertising new stainless NRMs, they are usually around $750.

I got mine a month ago for $650. With sales tax it brought it to about $700. :(

Wish I could have found some of the deals you guys got.
