subject pretty much says it all

lookin for a nice compact light carry folder w/ a belt cutter and window punch

like to buy a few, always to keep one in two cars, and one to carry

yes, i searched various key words, but not too many direct references or links to what i was lookin for

any help is appreciated

thanks

edit- to clarify, i dont want to look like a rescue worker luggin it around, i prefer black not so muc for tactical, but it blends in w/ black dress pants, stainless would be ok for car keepers, and i dont want a safety type blade, prefer a blade to be functional for multi purpose and SD purposes, make sense?

have you checked. . . . .

anyplace that specializes in EMT equipment? Some of the tools they use wouldn't make much of a knife but they look pretty efficient for use where seconds might count.

ty for your response(s) coelacant :)

I suppose I am leanin toward more of a SD tool and also is practical for said applications

I am lookin all over, and will look at emt places, worst case may end up w/ flamin red mr rescue style for a car or two, but still will want a more subdued tactical type for carry

Well, for a tenth of the price of the Surefire you can get the S&S First Response designed years ago by Blackie Collins (Blade Hall of Fameer).http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=SW911

It has a glass breaker and a seat belt/clothing blunt tip cutter at a price that would allow you to put one in several vehicles. The blunt blade tip prevents the person being rescued from getting stabbed when you're rushing to get them out. Believe me, that's important. (my flight instructor would probably be alive today if not for having his femoral artery punctured by someone attempting a rescue with a big ol pointy knife)

"Sexy"? No, but you asked for effective and this thing is.

Thanks Sharp a little blunt for my specific quest, but good point about the small accessory option for our cars, for my carry, Im leanin toward somethin like cdnns colt, but I could see keepin an accessory in a car, thanks

7 and hso - like above, good points about blunt bein a positive feature, esp if you will do a lot of rescues, I guess I was wantin a basic utility/sd tool w/ a couple extra features for an off chance it was needed, but I may buy one like I believe I want and reevaluate before buyin additional...

I really appreciate all the feedback!!!

Have you checked out the new Victorinox Rescue tool that won a recent award? Designed to be a dedicated rescue tool with a lot of neat functions. Not too expensive as well. That would be my pick.

That colt looks good I may have to get one, you may want to check the FOX rescue knives as well, some are lairy colours but others are much more subdued.

saw the lifehammer tested on nighty news with the FD- took something like 57 hits to break the window. They recommended something like a knife and punch tool.
The Mythbusters one was under water, wasn't it? I think the pressure might have made it easier to break the glass.
