No I did not loose it- but I finally figure out what I want, get my wife to fill up my piggy bank and I can't find it anywhere in this town. Should I try gunbroker? I am a little unsure about using it.

FYI I am looking for the Mil Spec 1911 Springfield.

Thanks

You're in Orlando and can't find one? There are many gunshops in Orlando, Tampa, Daytona to choose from.

Otherwise, find an FFL and order one

Bought some great old guns off of Gunbroker with no problems. For new, Bud's normally beats Gunbroker prices and shipping is included in the price, that gets Bud's a $20 to $50 advantage right from the start. (and their service is pretty darn good to boot)

I checked the places I bought most of my guns - Buds and Gallery of Guns - and didn't see one so maybe they are hard to get. Hopefully someone will come along and tell you where you can find one as opposed to the useless advice that it should be pretty easy!!

PS Are you set on that model? I'm in love with the Colt 1911 Series 70 replica that I recently bought.

Try: Davidson's Gallery of Guns for new.
Then Gunbroker.com

Just for fun I put "Springfield 1911" into Gunbroker. It returned 253 for sale. At the top of the list (time remaining) was a mil spec for $639.

Then I checked Davidson's. A little trickier since it goes through a dealer. The new black one is $627 and the stainless is $680.
If you have a local dealer see if his web site has a "gun search" tab. Mine takes me to Davidson's. If I buy it knows to ship to him.

I have bought several guns off of GB with good results. Check out the sellers feedback. This will give you a good feel of the seller. Both of my gun have been Walther PP series guns and I got both for under $400. The finish on one was 95-96% (a little holster wear) and the other 99+%. Been extremely happy with both.

If I were you I would try Gunbroker or Bud's Gun Shop. If you want to buy local try Shoot Straight, they have stores in Apopka and Castleberry.

Hello friends and neighbors // When I had this problem and transfer fees where goin up I did a search for FFLs in my area and called all of them within 30 miles.

Found the cheapest transfer rate at one place and the cheapest overall price at another.
I also found new sources and some nice folks.

Yah- it sorta surprised me I could not find one in Orlando. Called every shop- even bass pro. Shoot straight was their usual unhelpful self- they have alot of the upper end tricked out springfields, but no GI or Mil-spec. My FIL is looking down south to no avail as well.

In my original post- I was asking about GunBroker. I searched there and found a bunch as posted- but as soon as youtry register they ask for your CC. That sort of stopped me. I have never done a FFL transfer so I am trying to learn more.

Have not found any on THR either! feel free to ping me if you want to get rid of a parkerized or OD green GI or Mil-Spec. ...Thanks

you can keep your eyes open to floridaguntrader.com. It is a site for private party transactions and Central FL is the largest section. Always deal face to face with private transactions through a board like this. I've used it successfully for a while now.

What Guns n More said.

Take a ride over to Titusville. SR50 E. till you hit the water. Turn right, go about 1/2 mile and you'll see a little plaze with a gas station on the left. Indian River Sportsman is in that plaza. Owned by a retired LEO. Little mom and pop shop. Nice guy. If he doesn't have it, he will get it from Davidsons for you.

I use this store almost exclusively rather that the Orlando shops.

Shoot Straight is not a happy place to shop.:cuss: I have had good luck w/Bud's and Gunbroker. Bud's has good prices and free shipping, so your in good shape even after the FFL fee. Good Luck on finding what you need.

Get a GI and send it to Springfield to be "spec'd". There are two advantages to this approach:

0) You get the pistol you want
1) It ends up being a "custom" pistol.

That's what I did, and my pistol is more accurate and more reliable than an unmassaged mil-spec. I went the extra mile and got Novak sights added to it, but that's a pretty high-dollar option. You can still get the 3-dot milspec sights for a lot less.

My pistol ain't no bar-b-que gun, either.
