I bought a batch of 6-48 threaded to fill the scope mount holes on the Savage Mk I rifles at Ingersoll Scout Reservation. Some went in slick as you please, but many took more effort and some would only go half way. Bother ….

Is it possible the holes weren’t threaded all the way to the bottom? Thoughts on a solution? Can the holes be tapped again?

Ingersoll - man I have fond memories of jamborees there (and woconda as well). Back the screws out and see if there is any grime in the holes. Could be something small stuck in there holding you up. You can chase the threads to the bottom.. could be a buggered thread also holding things up.

That or the holes weren't bored as deep...
